V. MICHELLE STEPHENSON

 

V. Michelle Stephenson is an Independent PR Consultant who has an extensive background in public relations, marketing and newspaper/magazine advertising. After years of helping her friends and colleagues promote their businesses and assisting them with PR projects, she decided to open up her own boutique PR and Diversity Marketing company, VMS Communications, in 2004. An avid and passionate book reader since she was a child, Michelle also began representing authors and promoting books. In 2008, her appreciation for authors helped birth her online speakers' bureau called The National Speakers Network, which profiles authors, speakers, consultants and experts.

 

Michelle has held past positions as a Senior Advertising Account Executive for The Houston Chronicle and the Advertising Director for Bliss The Magazine, a bridal magazine for women of color. She holds a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a master's degree in Cross Cultural Studies from the University of Houston Clear Lake.

 

Michelle, a 10-year breast cancer survivor, currently serves on the Advisory Board of a non-profit breast cancer organization called Reconstruction of a Survivor, that sponsors many services for women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. She also served on the Executive Board for the National Black MBA Association Houston Chapter as PR Co-Chair from 2005 to 2009 and is a former Board Member of the YMCA of Greater Houston.

 

Michelle started Pink Vision, an event management company assisting in the fundraising efforts of breast cancer non-profit organizations and has started an endowment in her mother's name, who died of the disease in 2008, called The Ella B. Stephenson Endowment for Breast Cancer Survivors.

 

Originally from Missouri, Michelle has a large family of four sisters and three brothers. She is the proud aunt of over 30 nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Her hobbies include reading, journaling and volunteering in her community.
